And I feel guilty that it isn’t even MY photoshop, although I did link it to the appropriate joke-makers (who don’t make jokes anymore, unfortunately). I rather enjoy the various interpretations of the photo that you have presented. I mean, what if it wans’t a photoshop at all, but rather, a lunatic firefighter who DELIBERATELY took a photo in front of a 9/11 BACKGROUND! And what kind of INSANE PHOTOGRAPHER would just-so-happen to have a 9/11 backdrop?!!? Is there really that high of a demand for 9/11 photographs? I think not…or maybe HE’S the photographer himself, and this is all a part of his diabolical plan to be on Project Julio (which didn’t even exist when the photo was taken)!!!! This all huts my disproportionately large head…

Those were all good arguments.

And I totally lol’ed at that first picture w/the firefighter, but then I felt horribly guilty…and then I thought about it a moment more and I lol’ed again…mostly because I imagined why a firefighter would be smiling like that (in such a creepy manner in front of such a disaster)…and my imagination ran wild as it usually does.

First I imagined the firefighter was a pyromaniac, that this was a dream come true for him, something which he predicted would happen; like when a doctor diagnoses an inoperable brain tumor and gives the patient 3-6 mos to live (which is just speculation) and they tell the patient no matter how much of a positive outlook or aggressive treatment there is, they are going to die…but the patient lives much longer than expected…but dies, proving the doctor right…and they feel reinforcement and justification for their dismal outlook on health and well-being.

and then I saw the “firefighter” as a sociopath, a complete lunatic who must have just escaped from an institution, and somehow had stolen the firefighter gear in an attempt to look like a “hero”. What is so goddamned fun about being a firefighter? Ask one. Nothing…unless you like the rush, or you’re a pyro, and/or a sociopath.

Frankly, my sympathies go out to those who were lost and those who survived the tragic events on 9/11, but if some aren’t allowed to laugh about some elements, we can’t heal.

Thanks Kate…waiiiit a second! That IS a pretty good 9/11 joke! Even though it’s in a song DOES NOT mean it isn’t a joke. Tenacious D specializes in musical humor, as did Adam Sandler and Coldplay (do they call THAT music?! Lolz)!

I don’t have a 9/11 joke, but I heard this line
from a song by the Bloodhound Gang: ‘I’m missing you like a hijacked flight on September 11.’ Gets the point across nicely. He ain’t missing you at all, babe.
