I think it's because the middle class have a desire to be part of the upper class. They rely on a false belief that rich people DESERVE to be rich and necessarily EARNED their millions and millions of dollars. How does one person "EARN" 60 BILLION DOLLARS? Such absurd amounts of wealth are the result of the exploitation of the "pyramid-scheme" capitalism. You see, Capitalism refers to "capital", i.e., money used as an investment for future gains. Necessarily, wealthy people will retain their wealth because they are the only ones with the "capital" to invest. The only way average folks can acquire such wealth is by convincing the wealthy themselves to lend. It is contradictory that the middle class fight so vehemently to protect the upper class.
